I enjoyed "The Promise" by Il Divo. The strength of the voices of these amazingly gorgeous men carries the music into the place that gives me the "goose bumps" I love to feel when listening to a perfectly carried note.
My favorite track was "La Luna" , followed by "Angelina" . The way the name was sung was enough to make me want to change my name from Sherri to Angelina.
The harmony this group of men (did I mention they are gorgeous?) possesses is such a gift to them and to those of us blessed with listening .
I must admit though that I suffered one disappointment .Amazing Grace is such a beautiful song and a perfect opportunity for harmony to move those who are listening and I did not feel that justice was done to this time honored song . The strength of their voices was certainly there , but I found it somewhat lacking in , for lack of a better word , emotion. It seemed that whenever the group has performed this song "live" they have the ability to make it blend into perfection , but somehow they did not manage the same when it was recorded for the album.
There are no regrets in having this album in my collection and I look forward to their next one!

The Promise, a new album by IL Divo is beautiful and romantic. These four singers, David Miller, Carlos Marin, Urs Buhler, and Izambard combine their vocals in a way that makes you feel the soul of the music. These guys bring out the best in each others tones. I would love to hear either one of these guys do a solo.
This album, The Promise, by IL Divo has 11 great emotional and uplifting songs. My favorite is Amazing Grace. I grew up with my Dad singing and performing this song and these guys bring back the memories of Dad. They give a heart felt emotion in all of the songs on the album. It is a great stress reliever. I strongly recommend it to all age groups. -

Il Divo-The Promise
The best way to describe this cd is: LOVED IT!!! This cd released 11-18, and I see great things for this self described “operatic boy band”. This cd is NOT your typical boring opera music! I prefer heavy metal, yet I thoroughly enjoyed this cd! Their music is slow, rich, & full. But don’t let the word operatic throw you! The music is NOT boring! All of the songs but one is not in English, but you do not need to understand the language to enjoy it. The music is GREAT mood music, and I envision enjoying this cd over a candlelight dinner, as well as while I’m surfing the internet! The band will be touring the states in 2009, and I expect to hear a lot more from them! They are a creation of Simon Cowell from American Idol, and have been together since 2004. They have sold over 22 million cds, have performed to over 1.5 million people in 30 countries! They have also had 2 sold out world wide tours! -

While I'm not an opera fan, this CD was very relaxing and much different than I expected. It wasn't like the fat lady singing or anything like that. The sounds were very relaxing and with some familiar tunes, it makes for a great change of pace.

I heard this album and two words come to mind. "IL STINKO." This is the absolute worst music I've heard since Josh Groban first came on the scene. In fact, this is even worse. Because there are FOUR OF THEM. Imagine opera music getting it on with bad romantic standards by people like Peter Cetera. The resulting offspring is Il Divo.
I've listened to this album TWICE, and once I got past the album cover of four cheesy guys who belong in Vegas, I was able to focus more completely on the music. Which was unfortunate. Because it's absolutely not my thing at all. I respect great opera music but this, my friends, is not where it's at. This kind of stuff belongs on CD only available for purchase over the television.
I recommend giving this album as a Christmas gift to people you never want to speak with again.
