    Paul Barbarin's 1962 band was a particularly strong one, featuring trumpeter/vocalist Thomas Jefferson and clarinetist Louis Cottrell. Unfortunately this LP has an excess of vocals by Blanche Thomas and a version of "Just a Little While to Stay Here" completely given to Sister Elizabeth Eustis and her choir, so the musicians are not heard from as much as one might like. However, the spirit of their brand of New Orleans jazz is quite infectious and this LP is still worth searching for. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
