Kid606's Shout at the Döner would appear to preach on a theme as revolutionary as the odd late Green Day album; it features four separate movements, each with a preface (example: Dear homeland: we should square up now, otherwise it just gets nasty) and potentially leading song titles ("Malcontinental"). Nevertheless, the same listeners who have enjoyed the Kid's knowing glosses on techno and IDM in the past won't have much to fear. Miguel Depedro simply floats a succession of tracks with his trademarks: innovative beats and occasional nods to culture or music (cue the appreciation of dance music history he references by beginning "Mr. Wobble's Nightmare" with the same quote as rave-era staple "Mr. Kirk's Nightmare" by 4Hero). Shout at the Döner may lack the frenetic breakbeat energy of Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You, and it does tend to meander at some points, but no electronics producer can generate the same type of energy and freshness that Depedro manages throughout. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
