Nando Boom

A very satisfying recording in the Spanish-reggae vein -- the music is straightahead dancehall with no surprises, but Nando has a fabulous voice and knows exactly how to work it. He reminds me a lot of the English toasters in style, especially Smiley Culture, and he even does a Spanish-English translation rap like Smiley's "Cockney Translation." A special bonus is a Spanish reggae version of then-Cat Stevens's "Wild World" -- also a fine soca. ~ Carl Hoyt, Rovi
