Bristol's finest since he broke from Motown's apron strings with the Hang on in There album, but Polydor skimped on promotion and it went unnoticed. Bristol's unheralded singing shines on "Strangers in Dark Corners," "I'm Waiting on Love," and "If You Ever Need Somebody." His diction and vocal tone are remarkable and keeps whatever he sings interesting. "When the Fire Is Burning" is the only clunker, the rest are comparable to his best solo work with the common denominator being Bristol's fluid, effortless singing. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
