    Although the sequencing is a little too scholarly to be truely compulsive listening, the 51-track, double-disc box set The Fire/Fury Records Story contains the majority of the major songs recorded for the seminal blues and R&B label. Apart from Elmore James, Wilbert Harrison, Lightnin' Hopkins, Gladys Knight and Lee Dorsey, King Curtis and Mighty Joe Young, there aren't too many big names here, nor are there many hit singles; only James, Harrison and Dorsey are represented by their best-known songs. Still, the absence of big hits makes the consistently high quality of the set all the more impressive, and serious R&B and blues fans will find it well worth their time. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
