The 16 tracks on Chemical People's sophomore effort, Ten-Fold Hate, clock in an average of about a minute-and-a-half and boast some of the fastest tempos of the group's ten-year career. A few decent mid-tempo rockers and plenty of Kiss-inspired guitar solos add a depth to this record that typical speedy punk discs can lack. All elements of textural balance aside, it's the quick, reckless punk numbers that make Ten-Fold Hate stand out. Highlights include the raucous opener "New Food" and the blinding "She's Got a Bad Case." Both of these tunes feature sizzling performances and mixes, a quality that would become increasingly rare as the band developed into a much mellower rock act in the '90s. One of the better releases from this L.A. outfit, Ten-Fold Hate is a solid offering that fans of Chemical People are certain to enjoy. ~ Vincent Jeffries, All Music Guide
