The ten performances on this CD of Christmas jazz were all previously released, but it makes for a nice collection, even if there are three versions of "The Christmas Song" (by Dexter Gordon, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and Gene Ammons). Lockjaw and Paul Bley are both heard on renditions of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" while the other five songs are performed by Bill Smith, Don Patterson, and Bobby Timmons. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
