Lyrics from The Essence of Ray Conniff
All Music Guide Review
Although it's hardly definitive, clocking in at only ten songs and containing a handful of hits, The Essence of Ray Conniff remains a solid sampler of Conniff's sound at the peak of his career. His best-known songs -- "'S Wonderful," "Midnight Lace, Pt. 1," "Somewhere, My Love" -- are here, along with seven other covers of '60s pop hits like "What the World Needs Now," "Up, Up and Away," "Memories are Made of This," and "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." While this doesn't necessarily provide an accurate distillation of his career, it's nevertheless entertaining and provides a good introduction to his signature easy-listening style. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
