"The Disney Afternoon" was a two-hour daytime slot that comprised four of the company's most popular cartoons from the late '80s. Featured on the soundtrack are the well-known theme songs to Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Chip 'N Dale's Rescue Rangers, and Tale Spin. The theme songs are all well written, better written than required for cartoons, and have even appeared on Disney musical-history collections like A Legacy in Song: Seventy-Five Years of Disney Music. Songs that would forever be lost, if not for this compilation, are those that appeared within individual episodes, like "Gummiberry Juice" and "Monkey in Your Tank" from Tale Spin. It might have been a wiser decision to hold out for inclusion of later additions to the Disney Afternoon series, Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop, considering that their theme songs will probably float into oblivion (but would have been nice to have on this collection). ~ Peter Fawthrop, Rovi
