All Music Guide Review

This brief EP takes two excellent songs from the album The Good Earth and pairs them with two covers. "The High Road" and "Slipping (Into Something)" both utilize strummed acoustic guitar textures, submerged Lou Reed-style vocals, and a vibrant New South sound. The former is a midtempo loping number, while the latter is faster and more jittery; the final section of "Slipping (Into Something)" also layers on nervous electric guitar lines and speeds up the tempo. The Beatles' "She Said, She Said" gets a faithful, if understated reading, while Neil Young's "Sedan Delivery" alternates between sections that are by turns punky fast and grandiosely slow. This is an attractive release worth hearing. ~ David Cleary, All Music Guide
