This is one way to get your absolute fill of ska for a while -- six discs, with a few repeat tracks (Dressed to Kill has a habit of compiling their compilations into ever-bigger box sets) and an awful lot of music. The only real rhyme or reason to this particular box set is that it provides a focus on the British ska boom, tossing in a few Jamaican entries for good measure (including a couple of reggae cuts), along with a few moldy oldies from 1970s British rude boy Judge Dread. Cuts from some of the bigger British ska outfits are from live recordings. Many of the bands featured are not too well known, but they are consistently good performers, and well worth hearing. The budget price of this import box makes it a good overall sampler. ~ Steven E. McDonald, All Music Guide
