MCA's Best of the Blind Boys is a good, but not exceptional, collection of 12 highlights from the group's Peacock material. There are a number of wondrous performances here -- including "Love Lifted Me," "Jesus Satisfied" and "Speak for Jesus" -- but in general, the recordings aren't quite as strong as their recordings for Vee-Jay. Furthermore, the album feels a little skimpy in these days of extensive reissues, making it more of interest for completists and serious fans than listeners seeking out good values or representative collections. ~ Leo Stanley, All Music Guide
