Ideal for those who want to dig deeper than a single-disc overview of the Salsoul label (or deeper than the two-disc Original Salsoul Classics), each of the three volumes in the Salsoul Essentials series provides two discs' worth of material, balancing classics with lesser-known (and often almost as wonderful) tracks. Salsoul was one of the most productive disco labels, so one-disc sets are destined to ignore some not-to-be-missed moments. The third volume of Salsoul Essentials pays more attention to the label's early-'80s highlights, such as Logg's "Dancing Into the Stars," Skyy's "Let's Celebrate," and Aurra's "Are You Single."
