    All Music Guide Review

Velocity Girl shows both insightful and uncommonly good taste by doing two covers that are hardly the big hits by the two famous bands, giving us "Your Silent Face" off New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, and the Beach Boys' "You're So Good to Me" off Summer Days (And Summer Nights). The former recreates the glum, downcast, pensive beauty of the original, with bluesy harmonica reluctantly tracing the steps of Peter Hook's original bassline, but Sarah Shannon's vocal is dead-aimed. Archie Moore takes the mic for a rare vocal on the latter (funny, Shannon's girlish vocals back him on the parts where the Beach Boys' backup originally did falsettos!), a version somewhat punked-up compared to Brian Wilson's original conception. Conclusion: Moore should sing more, and though this isn't one of the best Beach Boys' songs of that era, or that album ("Girl Don't Tell Me" or "Let Him Run Wild" are better), it's still more proof that the Beach Boys were true kings, gods, and all that babble. ~ Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover, All Music Guide
