All Music Guide Review
BMG Special Products' 1999 release Up-Up and Away by the 5th Dimension doesn't bill itself as a greatest hits or best-of, which is good because it is missing a few of the band's biggest, like "Aquarious/Let the Sun Shine In," "Never My Love," or "If I Could Reach You." What is on the disc is very good Baroque pop/soul with lush and layered harmony vocals featured on great songs like "Stoned Soul Picnic," "Go Where You Wanna Go," "Wedding Bell Blues," and "Up-Up and Away." The orchestratedly funky cover of the Beatles' "Ticket to Ride" is also of interest. As an extremely cheap introduction to the 5th Dimension, it works fine. However, you might as well spend a couple of extra bucks and upgrade to a collection that does have all the hits on it, like 1972's Greatest Hits on Earth or 1999's The Master Hits: The 5th Dimension. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
