The turntablist occupation of beatboxing is the equivalent of sparring except with two turntables and an arsenal of scratching and spinbacks instead of jabs and fakes. The five-man Australian hip-hop group known as Metabass come on very similar to their comrades in the Northern Hemisphere, possessing a similar style to the Roots but with more emphasis on ragga and turntablist skills. Highlighted by the single "Possession," Life and Times of a Beatboxer is a solid album of left-field hip-hop and a positive departure for the increasingly turntablist Bomb Hip-Hop label. ~ Keith Farley, All Music Guide
