Two Motown tracks: the Temptations' "I Want A Love I Can See," and the Miracles', harmony filled, emotional warning "A Fork In The Road," goes against ITP's original concept for this series. Initially, these CD's contained tracks that received some air play on a local or regional level by artists and labels so small that the singles usually never made it to an LP. The two Motown tracks are as plentiful as flies at a picnic. Carl Carlton's full-bodied remake of the Dynamics' "Don't Walk Away" is a smooth, walking ballad, and the Diplomats' "Help Me," fit the original theme to a tee. Other good choices include selections by the Ballards, Lenny Williams, and G.Q's "Cross My Heart," a third attempt by the New Yorkers to capitalized via a Billy Stewart song that was not as successful as their first two attempts: "I Do Love You" and "Sitting In The Park." ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
