Some could see Zion Train's remixing of Rhythm Collision Dub as sacrilege as Moby remixing No Protection. The original Rhythm Collision Dub's faithful grow year-by-year as more people discover its seductiveness, and it comes as close to dub perfection as pop music ever did. So why mess with it? Why choose the unexceptional Zion Train to do it? Rhythm Collision Remix doesn't undo its source's reputation, but it sure doesn't add anything to it. Zion Train gained access to Mad Professor's studio and original tapes and seem quite respectful of the original's greatness; often leaving the ebb and flow of the original tracks intact. Unearthing some vocals and guitar lines that were buried in the original mix should interest those that have worn out the original, and "Love & Fire" finally adds some new ideas and gives the remix some purpose. Otherwise, Zion Train plays it safe enough to avoid embarrassment, but it doesn't help to understand what function the album serves. No one should own Rhythm Collision Remix without it's source.
