During 1999, Capitol Records began re-issuing original albums from the Philadelphia International vaults as their Double Shot series. Each individual entry in the Double Shot series contained two original albums, each on a separate CD, and was available at a budget price. Usually, the albums selected for Double Shot treatment didn't represent the artist at their best. Instead, they were flawed but intriguing albums that would be of interest to hardcore collectors. That's not really the case with Lou Rawls' Sit Down and Talk to Me/Let Me Be Good to You. Although both albums have their share of filler, they're stronger than the average albums selected for Double Shots. It's still the kind of compilation that will be of greatest interest to hardcore followers, but less dedicated fans will find this moderately enjoyable, as well. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
