During 1999, Capitol Records began reissuing original albums from the Philadelphia International vaults as their Double Shot series. Each individual entry in the Double Shot series contained two original albums, each on a separate CD, and was available at a budget price. Usually, the albums selected for Double Shot treatment didn't represent the artist at their best. Instead, they were flawed but intriguing albums that would be of interest to hardcore collectors. Such is the case with the O'Jays' The Year 2000/My Favorite Person. Neither of these records from the early '80s feature the O'Jays at their best, and they're both plagued by uneven material, yet there are enough interesting moments to make it worthwhile for the hardcore followers. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
