All of the Kendalls number one country hits can be found on this excellent cross-licensed compilation that draws from the duo's Ovation and Mercury singles. Covering the years 1977 through 1984, 16 Greatest Hits is packed with chart hits and great music. Jeannie Kendall's voice is very similar to Dolly Parton's, and her father Royce Kendall, despite being a capable vocalist, usually provides harmony vocals rather than taking lead. Cheatin' songs comprise the bulk of this material, but the lack of variety in subject matter is offset by strong performances and material. In terms of quality, the Kendalls' dedication to honky-tonk themes and prominent hooks sets them above many other hit-makers of the era; 16 Greatest Hits is the best-sounding and best-annotated collection of their music. ~ Greg Adams, All Music Guide
