All Music Guide Review
Rhino's Soul Train: The Dance Years 1976 provides a good collection of 14 hits from a year when disco ruled the dance and R&B charts. Although some of the featured songs may stretch the definition of dance a little -- terrific it may be, but "She's Gone" isn't really dance or disco -- it's nevertheless a first-rate collection that boasts a good mix of the familiar ("Love Rollercoaster," "Dazz," "Car Wash," "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," "Shake Your Booty (Shake, Shake, Shake)," "Play that Funky Music," "Boogie Fever," "The Rubberband Man," "Something He Can Feel") and a handful of lesser-known cuts ("Your Hearts Run Free," "Message in Our Music," "Love Machine, Pt. 1"). It's an excellent portrait of a fine year in dance music. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
