A super-distilled compilation album featuring material borrowed from another, more thorough compilation album. Whether these ten tracks truly represent the best of the best of early They Might Be Giants is way open for conjecture, especially since, for twice the price, even more casual acquaintances of the band's pre-Flood material can enjoy more than seven times as many songs. The track choices are generally excellent, but "She's an Angel" and "They'll Need a Crane" would have made much better sense than the relatively weak "Hideaway Folk Family" and "Youth Culture Killed My Dog." Plus, with the band's under-three-minutes song protocol, ten tracks is just too few. ~ Christian Huey, All Music Guide
