    All Music Guide Review

Gateways is the soundtrack for the human soul. Jonathan Goldman, using drumming and chanting, has created "sacred space" music. Much of the chanting is overtone and all of it is ritualistic. Environmental samples enhance the textures of the indigenous instruments and voices. This album has an all-star roster of chanters. Besides Goldman, Robert Gass and Eagle Cruz perform as "lead chanters." the atmospheres are vast and free. The rhythms are steady and true. Goldman is right in step with the relaxation needs of the human soul. This is a very important CD. It will appeal to fans of Gabrielle Roth, Byron Metcalf, Nawang Khechog and Jim Cole. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide
