If you slapped a Northern soul title on this two-disc se, nobody would know the difference. These tunes are as obscure as any of the stuff Goldmine, Ace, West End, or other companies specializing in rare sounds crank out; even when the artists are familiar, the tunes are not (i.e., Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' "You May Not Love Me" and Brenton Wood's "I Want Love"). The Jive Five's "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" and Jay Wiggins' "Sad Girl" are the most identifiable tracks, while others like Ben Iverson's "Love Me" and Utmost's "I Need You" never got out of the chute. Though a sweet dedication to the memory of Mad Mike, this is for collectors and diehards who will appreciate the whopping 54 hard-to-find tracks. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
