    All Music Guide Review

This disc collects tracks suitable for club dancing taken from Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Brian Holland's Hotwax, Invictus, and Music Merchant labels. A good buy for serious collectors, Invictus Club Classics features a wealth of lesser-known material; HDH had their share of hits and misses, but their quality was consistent. It contains Freda Payne's first single on Invictus, "Unhooked Generation," and Lee Charles' soulful take of "Sittin' on a Time Bomb," a hit for the Honey Cone. Laura Lee does "Crumbs Off the Table," a hit for the Glass House. The Jones Girls are represented here on "Taster of the Honey (Not the Keeper of the Bee)." Chairmen of the Board's psychedelic/rock side blares on two cuts and on member Harrison Kennedy's solo shot "Sunday Morning People." Also included are tracks by Parliarment, Eloise Laws, Raynel Wynglas, the Politicians, Tyrone Edwards, Smith Connection, and Holland Dozier's lovely "Why Can't We Be Lovers." ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
