Released by NY-based Nervous Records, Sam Records Extended Play Disco Classics brings together some of the biggest club hits of the '80s. All of the tracks were huge dance hits with some crossing over to the R&B and/or dance charts. After being picked up by Columbia Records, Gary's Gang's "Keep on Dancin'" went to number 15 R&B and number 47 pop on Billboard's charts in early 1979. Leroy Burgess sings lead on "Let's Do It" by Convertion. Remixed by Shep Pettibone, Mike & Brenda Sutton's "Don't Let Go of Me" has a groove like Zapp's "More Bounce to the Ounce." John Davis and the Monster Orchestra's "I Can't Stop" has JB-ish horn riffs and slammin' breaks. Other standouts are Vicky D.'s "This Beat Is Mine" and Rhyze's "Just How Sweet Is Your Love." Sam Records Extended Play Disco Classics serves to whet listeners' appetites for other tracks in the Sam catalog. ~ Ed Hogan , All Music Guide
