All Music Guide Review

Doing for '80s electro-jazz what As One's Planetary Folklore did for more Afro-centric '70s fusion, Ian O'Brien's second album of techno/jazz fusion is another success, exploring the best of both worlds with an attention to production detail and beats often lacking in the electronic realm. Though a few tracks on Gigantic Days lean uncomfortably close to the jazz-wank-lite heard on much of Planetary Folklore, O'Brien mixes up the productions slightly, from the funky keys on "Where Does the Past End and the Present Begin?" to the sublime atmospherics on the 12-minute closer "The Question of Value." ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
