    All Music Guide Review

Periods Make Sense is a collection of 11 untitled (well, titled after pictures of colors on the back sleeve) abstract-experimental productions, each computer-processed to the point where signal distortion and static actually becomes a soothing prospect. Horvitz often blocks out all but the most extreme frequencies, resulting in spare tracks brushed only with the deepest of sub-bass and some skittery percussion over the top. There's an air of approaching menace to many of these productions, thanks to the ebb and flow of his haunted synthesizers, and a four-four beat anchors most of these tracks to the techno tradition. It's not as relentlessly experimental as his colleague Kit Clayton's material, but Periods Make Sense is perhaps an even more fascinating listen. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
