    Mates of State musically resembles springtime weather -- warm and playful -- and is easily one of the catchiest pop releases since Quasi's Field Studies. And noting that Mates of State also use the minimal technique of male/female vocals, keyboard, and drums, comparisons to the aforementioned two-piece are unavoidable.
