    All Music Guide Review

Direct Source's Let It Rock 1993 is a 12-track look at the chart pop of the year in question. There isn't much rock on offer. Only Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love" and Blind Melon's "No Rain" qualify. The rest of the disc is a mix of dance-pop like Taylor Dayne's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love," Snap's "Rhythm Is a Dancer," and Tag Team's "Whoomp! (There It Is)"; pop-rap like A Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario" and the Fu-Schnickens/Shaq collaboration "What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock"); and pop like Ace of Base's "All That She Wants" and SWV's "Right Here." The set is too brief and too limited in scope to be a true picture of what was happening musically in 1993, but on the other hand it does provide a low-priced introduction to the non-rock sounds of the year. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
