Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals, Vol. 1: Arrangements in Alternative Tunings

Martin Simpson has toured with everyone from June Tabor to Steve Miller. He continues to grow as an artist, allowing rock, jazz, R&B, and eastern music to influence his acoustic guitar stlye. In this video geared to intermediate-level students, Martin discusses how students should try and make the most of every melody. The artful usage of vibrato is reviewed, as well as the banjo frailing techniques that have often been a part of his style. Simpson teaches students how to play "dropped-D" and "altered-G" tunings while performing several songs.
