Although based upon pulp stories and characters created decades before, Lensman comes off as a fairly blatant Star Wars rip-off (although who was ripping off whom is a matter of debate among aficionados of the space opera genre). However pure or impure its origins, Lensman unfortunately just doesn't have the freshness and vitality of the more influential Star Wars.
