After being allotted millions of dollars for the curiously ineffectual Leonardo DiCaprio vehicle The Beach, director Danny Boyle decided to cut the fat and shoot two featurettes for the BBC, both shot on inexpensive digital video and written by playwright Jim Cartwright.
