Whatever demons were lurking inside writer/director Bryan Johnson's head, here's hoping they've been purged. This is one bleak, dark, obsessive . . . um, comedy. To call it a comedy suggests there may be laughs in it; the only laughter Vulgar generates are the kind of involuntary chortles you expel from the back of your throat when you see something that affects your lower digestive system.
