It’s one thing to root for the bad guy. It’s certainly another to root so hard for said baddie to take the good guy down and keep him there. While heroes in film are measured by their voracious ability to take on a fitting opponent, like Batman and the Joker, for example, there has to be some special quality that ultimately pushes the viewer to side with the good guy.
