GRAMMY Award-winning artist, DJ, composer and producer Zedd shares a new video featuring a performance of his original composition inspired by National Geographic’s “One Strange Rock,” a critically acclaimed series that tells the extraordinary story of Earth from the perspectives of the only people to have left the planet: astronauts. Directed by The Edwards Brothers and produced by Evolve Studio, the video finds Zedd at a grand piano in the middle of an ominous cave that comes to life. Zedd’s performance builds as images from “One Strange Rock” appear across the screen. The original composition was created for a digital series inspired by a myriad of earthly themes presented in National Geographic’s series.
The performance video is the fourth and final in the series of films that National Geographic released. The first film, “Love Letter to Earth,” reveals the original composition for the first time in a video featuring incredible footage from the series. The second film, “The Inspiration Pt. 1 ft. Zedd,” captures Zedd’s absorbing “One Strange Rock” conversation with former astronaut Leland Melvin, which fueled Zedd’s creative inspiration. Then, in the third film, “In the Studio Pt. 2 ft. Zedd,” Zedd brings viewers in to the recording studio, where he composes and develops the track. In the video, Zedd shares his creative process and techniques, adding more instrumentation, including an orchestration by friend and renowned composer and conductor Brian Tyler (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Furious 7,” “Iron Man 3”). All four films can be found on National Geographic’s YouTube page.
Zedd’s original composition is inspired by the National Geographic series “One Strange Rock.” “One Strange Rock” is 10-part series is hosted by Will Smith and executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and award-winning producer Jane Root. The series score was composed by Daniel Pemberton. “One Strange Rock” airs Mondays on National Geographic at 10/9c.
Zedd’s latest single, “The Middle,” with Maren Morris and Grey continues to hold the #1 spot at Top 40 Radio in the U.S. for the second consecutive week. Zedd is currently on his 2018 Asia Club Tour.
