Sarah DuPont, the founder of Amazon Aid Foundation (AAF), has launched the first Kickstarter Campaign for the group, which is well on its way to complete funding. The money raised with partner Rhythm of the Universe will be used to write and produce a song that will be recognized globally as the Anthem for the Amazon.
As they continue their plight to save the forest in the Amazon, a collaboration of students, artists and scientists from all over the world will all come together to create a multi-media video and website that stems from images and sounds from the Amazon.
DuPont is adamant that there is a point of no return once 80% of the Amazon is cut down. She estimates that we are currently at 81%. She has launched an important call to action to protect one of the most important land ecosystems for mitigating climate change -- the Amazon River.
The goal is to present the Anthem to global leaders at COP 20 in Lima Peru, December 2014.
However, AWARENESS is the key. DuPont is hoping to raise money to create a hyper-awareness around the globe to stop the deforestation of the Amazon River in pursuit of gold.
"The Amazon is one of the most important land ecosystems for mitigating climate change -- it moderates weather patterns locally, and globally, carries 20 percent of the earth's fresh water to the sea, and is the home to more than 30 percent of species on the planet. I felt that if people were not aware of the critical importance of the Amazon as an ecosystem, then they could not be empowered to do anything to protect it," said Sarah DuPont regarding the creation of the AAF.
