Three more singers made it into the final round of American Idol on Wednesday night, including a 16-year-old high school student from Los Angeles (Allison Iraheta), a 23-year-old University of Central Arkansas student from Conway, AR (Kris Allen), and a 26-year-old actor from L.A. (Adam Lambert). The judges were especially impressed with Irhaeta’s version of Heart’s “Alone” single.
“You just blew it out the box!” Randy Jackson said after her performance.
One person who didn’t quite blow it out the box was Nick Mitchell, a 27-year-old sketch comedian who appeared as his alter ego, Norman Gentle. Right before he got eliminated, Mitchell said, “I’m looking for employment—always.”Twelve more semifinalists will compete for the show’s top 12 next Tuesday, with three more finalists chosen the week after during a wild card round featuring three nixed semifinalists.
