Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has generously donated $15.4 million to set up a clinic to treat and research multiple sclerosis, the disease that took her mother's life, reports The Associated Press.
Rowling says she hopes the clinic will become "a world center for excellence in the field of regenerative neurology." The Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic will be based at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. According to the university, Rowling's generous gift is the single largest donation it has ever received.
Rowling's mother died in 1990 at the age of 45, before she got a chance to see her daughter rise to literary and pop culture fame with her Potter novels.
