E! has hired Laura Ling, the Current TV correspondent who was detained with a colleague in North Korea in a highly publicized diplomatic relations crisis last year, to host the series E! Investigates as of December 8. The show will explore the hard-news side of pop culture, where Ling, 33, will explore such topics as teen suicide and the lives of military wives.
Ling told The New York Times that she is excited about reaching a younger target audience and demographic with E! Investigates.
