New Music Alert! Natalie Nylon's new album Star-Crossed Lovers features the track "Dry Rivers," which we want you to listen to.
But before you do, here's a little background on the deeply personal track, from Natalie herself! She explains how darkness turns to a glow and how she survived a crippling heartbreak, emerging from a really bad place as a stronger person.
"'Dry Rivers' is a song I wrote to help give me strength to leave my ex fiancé and pull me out of the dark into something new," she confessed. "It was the most emotionally draining and dramatic relationship I have ever been in, but I was also the most in love I have ever been in my entire life. This song was my cry for help."
She continued, "I needed everyone and anyone out there who was willing to lend a helping hand and pull me out of the shadows into the light again, hence the lyrics 'Shine a light / Light my path though it is winding / Satellite / Find my heart where its been hiding.' Sometimes when people are in a relationship, its hard to see what it looks like from the outside in. Love is blinding. I knew that I was strong enough to leave him and that there would be a light so I could move forward with my life, which explains the lyrics 'Dry rivers start to flow/ The darkness turns to glow.' I wanted to write this song not only to help myself, but to help others who are or were in the same situation. Honestly if it could speak to only one person other than myself and it helped them find strength to pull themselves out of the dark, I would have accomplished my goal. I want others to know that they are amazing, beautiful inside and out, strong, independent, and should not take abuse of any kind. The darkness will turn to glow."
We told you it was deeply personal. It's so deep it hits marrow, and the song is that much more powerful once you know the backstory, so indulge and enjoy.
