In a press release, executive vice president and chief revenue officer of the New York Times Company, Meredith Kopit Levien said, "News and music have gone hand-in-hand since the early days of radio, and because personalization and curation are central to what both The Times and Spotify do so well, we created an experience for Times readers that gives them access to all the news and all the music that they want in one premier subscription."
Earlier this week, Spotify and AccuWeather joined forces to launch a new site called Climatune, which creates playlists based on weather and listening data. Apparently, information was compiled during a yearlong study that compared 85 billion anonymized streams on Spotify in over 900 cities. The platform decides what to play based on the weather in specific cities, having tracked listening patterns during various forecasts.
Last year, Spotify teamed up with Tinder to allow users of the dating platform to sync their favorite tunes to their profiles.
What a world it is, where you can connect your music to every piece of your life, from reading the morning paper, to the weather outside… and even looking for you future special someone.
