Perez Hilton…out? Hell no. More like Perez Hilton…in!
Perez Hilton loves sticking it to celebs, and in this case, the celeb hawkers. The blogger and self-professed "Queen of All Media" told Billboard.com that he will be launching a weekly music countdown show over the course of the next few months. Hilton told the trade magazine's site that he is aiming to offer a "cooler alternative" to On-Air With Ryan Seacrest, the syndicated, Top 40 morning show that Seacrest has been a staple of celeb-driven, morning drive radio since 2004. Hilton and Seacrest going mano y mano? It's going to be a bitchslap fest!
Hilton's show will mix interviews with popular and new music. He said, "I want the best songs in the country plus ... my own picks, songs that I would love to expose the masses to." Additionally, he plans to probe artists on deeper issues, instead of lobbing softball questions at them like Seacrest would. "I want to ask Justin Bieber, 'Have you seen that website, LesbianswholooklikeJustinBieber.com?' I can make fun of someone and still be a fan," Hilton, known for marking up celeb photos on his site, said.
The celeblogger already has a nationally syndicated show, "Radio Perez," in which he reveals updates from his blogs. In his quest to cement his position as the Queen of All Media, he also revealed he will be launching a third website alongside the original PerezHilton.com and the follow-up fashion site, CocoPerez.com. He did not reveal the slant or content plan for this site. He also has his own record label, Perezcious Music, in 2009. No, we don't know any of the artists signed to the label either.
We wish Perez best of luck in his new venture and hope he'll have John Mayer on soon, sans the make-out session! Do you think Hilton is risking overexposure will all these new media ventures and web properties? Is he inching dangerously close to the 14:59 mark or do you want more, more, more Perez?
