Kareem Burke, who started the hip-hop label Roc-a-Fella with Jay-Z and Damon Dash in the 1990s, was caught on a wiretap discussing "grow houses" with the ringleader, federal prosecutors in Manhattan claimed after the feds busted a wholesale marijuana ring based in New York and Florida. The bust resulted in the arrests of 45 people. The arrests were the result of an 18-month investigation.
Prosecutors allege the marijuana was grown using hydroponics in Florida and smuggled to New York for street sales. Yikes. Those are some large charges.
Authorities said they seized nearly $2 million and more than 360 pounds of marijuana.
Will some of the stain of this mess and arrest rub off on Jay-Z because he had an association with Burke? Or is Jay-Z a Teflon Don?
