3 reasons you should attend the festival in NYC's most populous borough in late July.
Brooklyn's annual Gigawatts Festival has announced its 2015 lineup, which features Black Lips, Anamanaguchi and Braid headlining its three nights, July 24 through 26. Awesome, right?
Other acts include Liturgy, Cerebral Ballzy, Swearin', Miniature Tigers, Laura Stevenson, White Mystery, Ava Luna and Quarterbacks.
Taking over Brooklyn's The Wick, The Well, and Our Wicked Lady, this year's festival will host more than 80 local and national acts.
Here are the three reasons we encourage East Coasters or those residing in any of the boroughs to go.
Brooklyn is cool. Yes it's the hipster mecca, but it's also a cool place to get some culture and to enjoy some nightlife. So if you don't do that often, why not make a weekend of it by hitting up Gigawatts?
The lineup is rad. From black metal band Liturgy to those indie rockers in Black Lips, there is something for everyone, plus the eclectic roster allows you to get a taste of things you may not have gotten previously. Okay?
Forget all those big, mainstream festivals. Support the local and indie arts scene. Indie festivals are always more fun and intimate anyway
The lineups are below.
FRIDAY, 7/24:
Black Lips, Cerebral Ballzy, Amanda X, Liturgy, Celestial Shore, Rivergazer, Heaven's Gate, Surfbort, Palehound, Paperhaus, Anomie, Journalism, Vulture Shit, Bambara, O-Face, Parlor Walls, Huffers, Secret Crush
SATURDAY, 7/25:
