Five reasons we can't wait for the Soxundgarden frontman's new solo album 'Higher Truth'
Chris Cornell will unveil his new solo album, Higher Truth, on September 18. Following three years on the road with Soundgarden and the killer 2012 King Animal, the singer returned to the studio to cut the new solo full-length. Given his penchant for striking melodies, vivid lyricism, and downright masterful songwriting, this is bound to be honest, hypnotic, and heartfelt beyond words. Simply put, it's a big reason to get excited this year. So, we wanted to give you our reasons for excitement over this record.
5 Reasons We Can't Wait for Higher Truth
5. He's launching the Acoustic Higher Truth Tour on September 20. Seeing Cornell solo is always rapturous. He covers his entire body of work and adds a distinct sense of soul on stage, intimately welcoming the audience, while transporting them some place altogether beyond this sphere. If you saw any of the Songbook shows, you know what we're talking about. If you haven't witnessed this phenomenon for yourself, make sure to get your tickets as early as possible.
4. He's following up a triumphantly creative Soundgarden album. 2012's King Animal saw Cornell firing on all cylinders as both a lyricist and performer. The touring onslaught that followed showcased just how powerful he remains. He's on a hot streak, and Higher Truth is the best point for this to culminate upon.

3. The world needs a great acoustic album. When was the last time, you heard a stark, stripped, and soulful record that touched your spirit? It's been a while. Cornell has a few to his name. Euphoria Morning remains a classic. He's delivering this body of work when we need it most and teaming with the right guy, super producer Brendan O'Brien [Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Neil Young and mixer on Superunknown].

2. He only keeps getting better. Every time he enters the studio, he exits with something poetic, passionate, powerful, and poignant. This will undoubtedly continue that tradition.
1. Chris remains the most powerful voice of this generation. His towering delivery is unparalleled, but the visions he paints and stories he tells feel as resonant and important as ever. This is going to be a classic.
