Axl Rose's Twitter account was hacked on Sunday, with the hacker posing as Axl claiming that "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds." That information about upcoming European tour dates is indeed untrue. The tour is still on. I would like to say that if you actually believe this Tweet, you must have a low IQ, since I seriously doubt someone as reclusive and as temperamental as dear Axl would take to Twitter to announce a tour cancellation and the singer is not an active Tweeter; this was the first message to pop up on his account in over three months. It also makes you think: Is the celebrity overuse of Twitter become a potential problem when accounts get hacked? It spreads misinformation and can cause some financial damage to a celebrity when false announcements like this are made.
The band is scheduled to headline Reading and Leeds Festivals, organized by Live Nation's Festival Republic operation, on August 27 and August 29 respectively. So if you've purchased tickets to any G N' R overseas shows, don't pay attention to any canceled-via-Twitter news from Axl.
What is your favorite Guns N' Roses song? Will Axl ever bury the bloodied hatchet with his former bandmates Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven for a reunion that all the fans are clamoring for? One can only hope. Stranger things have happened.
