In the more underground indie world, Frankie Cosmos' revealed the video for "Sinister", the second single from her newest album, Next Thing. Luke Roberts teamed up with the violating force that is Kurt Vile and unveiled "Silver Chain." And that was only the beginning for a week filled with top notch videos, including a new one from Kanye West.
Here are our favorites:
Kanye West - "Wolves" [ft. Sia, Vic Mensa & Kim Kardashian] - Directed by Steven Klein
The video for "Wolves" may not be anywhere near as controversial as the one for "Famous," but that doesn't take away from its impressiveness. Shot in black and white, the slow cuts, and stop and start motion of the video fits the tracks' complexities ideally.
AlunaGeorge - "Mean What I Mean" [ft. Leikeli47 and Dreezy]
AlunaGeorge has been tearing it up all year, and "Mean What I Mean" [ft. Leikeli47 and Dreezy] continues in the same fashion. It's another excellent summer dance track. We just can't wait for their album to drop.
Psychic Ills - "Baby" - Directed by Jason Evans
When you name a song "Baby" it better be good, you are putting yourself in the same world as Os Mutantes at that point. There is no question that Psychic Ills are familiar with the Brazilian psychedelic rockers, and their in-no-way-similar "Baby" is also excellent.
Ducky - "Bliss" - Directed by Alex Girav
Los Angeles-based producer Ducky's new track "Bliss" is simply that. The video plays with light and water, creating a sense of wonder that can be seen in the faces of its two leads who seem to have stepped out into the world for the first time.
